You can use the mixture of various oils such as vegetable, olive or baby and three tablespoons of sugar as a hand exfoliant and rub them gently on your hands. Use warm water to wash them off and ensure to dry your hands well.
- A mixture of one teaspoon of sugar and one tablespoon of lemon juice can be very effective to treat dry hands.
- Use 2/3 cups of rose water and 1/3 cup of glycerin as a nourishing hand cream after putting the mixture in a bottle and shaking it well. It can also work as an effective moisturizer.
- Use a teaspoon of warm olive oil after a shower to push your cuticles back by gently massaging the oil into them with your fingertips.
Do's
- Start your manicure by removing your old polish with cotton balls and follow it up by trimming your nails in a squared or rounded shape. Use an emery board or a nail filer to file your nails by moving it in the same direction instead of back and forth.
- Use a cotton-tipped orangewood stick to push back the cuticles gently after you have applied a cuticle remover. Avoid cutting the cuticles and instead massage the dead skin away in a circular motion.
- Massage the palm of your one hand with the thumb of your other using a hand lotion, helping to improve blood circulation.
- Remove any remaining residue of the lotion before applying nail polish.
- Paint your nails in three coats, letting each coat dry completely before applying the next. Apply a base coat before the polish followed by the nail color.
Don'ts
- Do not wear a nail polish for a long time or use removers too often as this might lead to dry and brittle nails.
- Do not ignore your cuticles. Cuticle problems can lead to hang nails.
- Avoid snipping the cuticles off while manicuring. Instead use a cuticle softener followed by an orangewood stick to push them back gently.
- Do not use a very strong remover, containing acetone to remove the polish. Instead use a gentle one to minimize the harmful effects.
